How to play Motorly

Motorly is a free daily car guessing game for anyone who loves motoring. Each day there's one mystery model to identify, the same for everyone, from nearly 400 cars spanning classic icons, everyday favourites and exotic supercars.

How the clues work

You start with one clue and unlock another with every wrong guess or skip. Clues work from broad to specific: the continent and country it comes from, its class, the era and the years it was made, then sharper hints like the length of its name, its last letter, the maker and its initials. Clues are shuffled every day, with broader hints tending to come first and the strongest ones last.

Scoring and the bonus clue

You have six guesses. Solve it on your first guess for 12 points, or 10, 8, 6, 4 or 2 points on later guesses. Stuck early? The optional bonus clue reveals the first letters of its name. It's available during your first three guesses, but it halves that day's score.

Streaks and badges

Play every day to grow your play streak, solve every day to grow your correct streak, and play seven days in a row for a cycle bonus of 7 points, or 14 if you solved all seven. Your Motorly results also count towards your combined Streakly totals and milestone badges. A new car arrives every day at midnight UTC.

Tips

• Country plus class narrows things fast: a small Japanese hatchback rules out a lot.
• Years in production separate one generation from the next.
• When the maker appears, run through their famous models in your head.
